NEWRI Lien Environmental Fellowship Programme, Singapore, 2015

The Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute Community Development (NEWRIComm) is inviting applications for Lien Environmental Fellowship. Scholarship Description: The Nuclear Proliferation International History Project is pleased to announce a 3-month research fellowship for a scholar studying Brazil’s nuclear history, in particular as it relates to US-Brazil relations, Brazil’s nuclear relations with Argentina and with other countries, and Brazil’s evolving role in the NPT regime. The fellowship, made possible by a generous grant from the Carnegie Corporation of New York, will provide a unique opportunity to conduct archival and oral history research on Brazil’s nuclear history using Brazilian archives. The fellow will be hosted by NPIHP’s partners at Fundação Getulio Vargas’ School of Social Sciences/CPDOC, in in Rio de Janeiro.

Scholarship Description: SSRC The residential postdoctoral fellowship is directed toward African PhDs based in African universities who are in the early postdoctoral phase of their scholarly careers. It is meant to help young post-doctoral scholars complete ongoing research projects specifically focusing on an area of African peacebuilding. Selected fellows will produce research-based knowledge that is relevant to, and has a significant impact on, peacebuilding policy and practice on the continent. Specfically, the fellowship program aims to encourage young academics to expand their research beyond their PhD; deepen the engagement of early-career academics with scholarly and policy discussions on peacebuilding, both in Africa and other parts of the world; and further develop and apply academics’ capacity for independent research that is relevant to a range of disciplines and broader networks within and outside of Africa.

Duration of award(s): Fellowships are awarded on a competitive, peer-reviewed basis and are intended to support three months of residency in Africa and the United States, from September 2015 through December 2015. Fellows are expected to spend two months at a university or research center in Africa located outside the fellow’s home country, and a third month at either a university or a policy or practitioner institution in the United States.

What does it cover? Maximum of $20,000 will be granted to students. APN postdoctoral fellowships cover residential costs, institutional support, equipment, books and articles, research-related travel, conference costs and related travel, project completion and editorial support.
