Scholarships funded by global and regional organizations allow you to study at any country or a wide selection of countries and because of its nature, distance learning scholarships allow you to pursue international studies in your own country or wherever you may be.

Rotary Foundation Global Scholarship Grants
The Rotary Foundation Global Grants can be used to fund scholarships with sustainable, high-impact outcomes in one of Rotaryâs six areas of focus related to development.  The study grants are valued at least $30,000. Generally, the study grants can be carried out in any country where there is a Rotary club or district.
Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Program
The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant : 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year.  The Foundation assists students with tuition fees and living expenses only.  Generally, the scholar is allowed to choose a reputable University of his/her choice subject to approval.
OFID Scholarship Award
OFID (The OPEC Fund for International Development) offers a fully-funded scholarship to qualified applicants who wish to study for a Masterâs degree in an accredited University around the world subject to approval.  The winner of the OFID Scholarship Award will receive a tuition support of up to US$50,000 plus a a monthly allowance to cover living expenses, books and accommodation.

Joint Japan World Bank Scholarships
The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students from World Bank member countries to pursue development-related studies at selected Universities around the world.  The program provides annual awards to cover the cost of completing a masterâs degree or its equivalent including tuition, subsistence allowance, travel costs.
ADB Japan Scholarship Program
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) aims to provide an opportunity for well-qualified citizens of ADBâs developing member countries to undertake postgraduate studies in economics, management, science and technology, and other development-related fields at participating academic institutions in the Asian and Pacific Region. Â The ADB-JSP provides full tuition fees, a monthly subsistence and housing allowance, an allowance for books and instructional materials, medical insurance, and travel expenses.
Wells Mountain Foundation Scholarships for Developing Countries
The Wells Mountain Foundation, a public charitable foundation based in Bristol, Vermont, USA, funds scholarships for individuals in developing nations or other situations of extreme poverty.  You can study in your choice of institution in your home country or in another developing country.  Scholarships range from $300.US to a rare high of $3000.US to cover part of tuition and fees, books and materials, room rent and meals.
Edinburgh Global Distance Learning Scholarships
The University of Edinburgh offer Masterâs scholarships for about 20+ distance learning Masterâs programmes currently offered by the University related to social sciences, health and medicine. The  scholarships are targeted to citizens of selected developing countries. Each scholarship will have a total value of £5,000 which will be deducted from the tuition fee for the entire part-time programme of study.
Commonwealth Distance Learning  Scholarships
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in partnership with UK Universities offers distance learning scholarships as part of the commitment of the Commission and the Department for International Developmentâs (DFID) commitment to explore new methods of scholarship delivery.   The  scholarships are targeted to citizens of developing commonwealth countries.  The scholarships cover the overseas tuition fees at the Masters degree level.
University of the People Tuition Free Scholarships
University of the People (UoPeople) is the worldâs tuition-free, non-profit, online academic institution dedicated to opening access to higher education globally. UoPeople offers Associate and Bachelor Degree Programs in Business Administration and Computer Science. With a convenient virtual web address, the University of the People is accessible anywhere a computer and Internet connection exists.  Tuition fee is free but students are required to pay around $110-150 processing fees per semester.
edX Free Online Courses at Premier Universities
edX is a learning platform that gives students from any country the opportunity to take free online courses offered by three premier Universities in the US â" Harvard, MIT, and UC Berkeley plus 8 other premier universities. Online learners can earn a certificate of completion after completing the course.  There are currently 32 courses offered but their goal is to offer a wide variety of courses across disciplines.  The course are available to anyone in the world â" from any demographic â" who has access to a computer with internet access. For the courses in Fall 2012, those certificates will be free. There is a plan to charge a modest fee for certificates in the future.
