The Department of Chemistry at University of York is awarding teaching studentships for UK/EU students. Studentships are awarded for PhD students to develop the teaching skills necessary for a career in academia or teaching. Studentships include full tuition fees and a stipend equivalent to the standard Research Council stipend for 3 years to cover living costs. Teaching studentships will begin in October 2015. In common with all graduate students, students will receive training provided by the Department and the Universityâs Researcher Development Team (RDT). The application deadline is 30 January 2015.

Eligibility: Â The MSc in Green Chemistry and Sustainable Industrial Technology requires a minimum of a 2:2 or equivalent in a chemistry related subject.
-Applicants for Research Programmes should have, or expect to receive a minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent in a chemistry related subject.
-However, other relevant experience and circumstances can also be taken into account and we are happy to consider applications from those who have taken alternative routes but have the required knowledge and experience for any of our postgraduate programmes.

Notification: Interviews will take place on Thursday 24/25 February 2015. The Graduate Awards Panel will meet on Friday 27 February 2015 to award studentships. You and your prospective supervisor will be informed of the outcome of the Panel meeting, and if you are successful, the Department will request that the University makes you an offer of a PhD position to start in October 2015.
How to Apply:
-Select a PhD project approved to be considered for a Teaching Studentship from the list of PhD Opportunities.
-Submit an online PhD Application Form including a CV, personal statement and the names and email addresses of two suitable referees. Include the name(s) of the supervisor(s) you are interested in working with. In the Funding section, state that you intend to apply for a Teaching Studentship.
-Submit a Teaching Studentship Application Form to chemgrad-at-york.ac.uk by 5pm on Friday 30 January 2015.
-You may then be invited to interview by the supervisor(s) you hope to complete your research with, and an independent member of academic staff
-If your proposed supervisor, wishes to support your application, they will submit a Nomination Form to the Graduate Awards Panel by 13 February 2015.
