Initiated by SAARC 8 member nations Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka â€" South Asian University (SAU) is an international university started in 2010.
SAU is welcoming application from students (in Masters and PhD level) for its 4th academic session starting July 2013. The courses for which application is asked for in Masters and PhD level are Applied Mathematics, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Development Economics, Sociology, International Relations, Legal Studies (Law).
The deadline for application is 25 February 2013. An entrance examination will be taken on 24 March 2013 in all the SAARC countries.
The application fee is Indian Rs 550 or 10 US Dollars.
Venues of Entrance Test: For Nepal, Exam center venue is Kathmandu only, still Students staying outside Nepal can give the SAU entrance from any of the available center which list can be found in website. On Sunday, 24th March 2013, the entrance tests will be held in two shifts. Check website for the details of shift.
Qualifying Process: A minimum of 4% (four percent) of students in will be selected from Master level while there is a combined quota of 50% in PhD admission for student outside India.
Scholarships: There are plenty of scholarships and financial aid are available to academically merit and also needy students under various schemes according to following arrangements:
President’s Scholarship (for M.A./M.Sc. and LL.M. students only)
- full fee, full hostel fee, full living expenses of Rs7000/month
SAARC India Silver Jubilee Scholarships
- full fee, full hostel fee, full living expenses of Rs7000/month
Financial Aid from South Asian University (SAU)
- full fee, full hostel fee, 50% living expenses
- 50% fee, full hostel fee, 50% living expenses
- 50% fee, full hostel fee, 25% living expenses
- 50% fee, full hostel fee
- 25% fee, full hostel fee
Current Status of Nepali students in  South Asian University (SAU)
Currently, there are 33 Nepali students studying in SAU. All students are given scholarship as their need and family condition. More ever, students are also getting work and earn program.
