Through ACIS, the Cassamarca Foundation is awarding up to two research scholarships to work on a research project in Italy in 2015. Scholarships are available for students enrolled in Master by research or PhD degrees in a university in Australia or New Zealand to undertake research project in the area of Italian Studies. Scholarships are worth $5,000 each. Successful applicants will be expected to spend at least two months in Italy on research. The award must be taken up before 1 December 2015. The closing date is 31 October 2014.
Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in any of the following areas of Italian Studies: archaeology and classical antiquities, language, literature, culture, history, politics and society, including migration studies.

Eligibility:
-The scholarships are available to students who in 2015 will be enrolled, full-time or part-time, in Master by research or PhD degrees in a university in Australia or New Zealand and who will be engaged in research projects in any of the following areas of Italian Studies: archaeology and classical antiquities, language, literature, culture, history, politics and society, including migration studies.
-Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand
-Applicants must already have knowledge of Italian adequate for their research purposes. The scholarship will not be awarded to attend a language course in Italy.
Scholarship Open for International Students: These research scholarships are open for students of Australia or New Zealand.
Scholarship Description: The Australasian Centre for Italian Studies (ACIS) promotes the activities of research and teaching in the area of Italian Studies in Australasian tertiary institutions. It is supported by the Cassamarca Foundation (Fondazione Cassamarca) of Treviso, Italy. The aims of the Foundation include the promotion and advancement of Italian culture and Latin Humanism throughout the world. Through ACIS, the Cassamarca Foundation is offering up to two scholarships worth $5,000 each, to provide postgraduate students at an Australian or New Zealand university with the opportunity to work on a research project in Italy in 2015.

Notification:Â The Committee expects to make its decision by mid-December 2014 and will advise applicants of the outcome as soon as possible thereafter.

-AÂ curriculum vitae, including the details of an academic referee (see below) and accompanied by an official transcript of academic results;
-A detailed description of the research work to be carried out in Italy including the time-table envisaged and, if appropriate, an indication of attachment to an Italian university or other scholarly institution;
-An indication of how the $5,000 will be used
-An indication of any other sources of income (postgraduate scholarship, Italian Government scholarship, grants, awards, bursaries or financial assistance from any source) obtained or under consideration for 2015 in relation to the research.
Prior to departure for Italy, as a condition for the transfer of the scholarship funds, successful applicants will be required to submit:
-proof of Australian or New Zealand citizenship or permanent residence,
-proof of enrolment at an Australian or New Zealand university in 2015
-a detailed indication of planned expenditure
On return from Italy a report on the activities undertaken and the use of the funds must be provided.
Referee Report: Applicants must arrange for a confidential report from an academic staff member familiar with their work, indicating their linguistic proficiency and ability to undertake the proposed research in Italy, to be sent independently of the application by email directly to the following address: B.Maher-at-latrobe.edu.au.
