Scholarship Description:ÂÂ
Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD position in “OLIgo Mass Profiling (OLIMP)†commencing 1 September 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. Glycoproteins are an important component of plant cell walls and we have made significant progress in elucidating the glycosylation machinery for one class of cell wall proteins, the extensins. This type of glycosylation also occurs on some peptide hormones but is not found outside the plant kingdom. We wish to understand the biological significance of extensin glycosylation and a first step is to describe the modular organization of the extensin glycans, which the current available analytical methods do not allow.
