Scholarship Description: The Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) wish to appoint a Knowledge Exchange Fellow in area of infrastructure. The role of the Fellow will be to accelerate access to NERC knowledge, skills and data sets, enhancing the impact of NERCâs investments and better demonstrating these impacts with infrastructure owners and operators in the transport, utilities, communications and environmental management sectors. Applications are welcomed on a part time basis (between 40% and 80% FTE) for a period of up to 2 years. Ideally, the Fellowship will commence in late 2014/early 2015.

What does it cover? A total budget of up to £200k is available for this call which aims to support one fellowship for a period of up to 2 years. Resources to support the Fellowâs activities are eligible where these are demonstrably essential to knowledge exchange. These could include but are not limited to:
- travel and subsistence;
-events such as workshops, seminars, open days or user training- establishing clubs, networks or similar.
-The fellowship will be paid pro-rata at 80% FEC in the same way as NERC Research Fellowships. Payments will be made quarterly to the host institution via the NERC profile payments system.
Selection Criteria: Applicants will be assessed based on evidence of their competencies, as described in this Announcement of Opportunity, and their performance at interview. Proposals will be assessed on their potential impact, and the suitability of the applicant to be appointed as a Fellow delivering the requirements of NERC in the infrastructure area. In their proposals, applicants should demonstrate that they have viable plans for improving the uptake of scientific knowledge with infrastructure owners/operators.
Notification: Applicants are advised that interviews will be held on 13th / 14th November 2014.

-CV of up to two pages A4 â" the font size should be no smaller than Times New Roman or Arial point size 10. Applicants should include details of two nominated referees (preferably one from academia and one with a user background).
-A statement of approval from their employer agreeing to their release and accepting the conditions of the scheme.

-A separate statement on âJustification of Resourcesâ, including Travel and Subsistence, on one page of A4 (maximum)
